ABOUT THE ARTWORK
2024
Chalk Pastel
48 x 67 cm
In the summer of 2021, some good friends and I visited
the Blue Lotus Water Garden in Yarra Junction, Victoria.
It was the first time I had seen lotus flowers in real life
and my breath was taken away by their beauty on-masse.
Not long after, I created a small pen and ink drawing
based on a photo I had taken during the visit. It was entitled ‘Nodding Lotus’.
Moving forward into 2024, a student that I tutor in Art
requested that we do some work with chalk pastels. I
decided to revisit the same photo and this time create a
large colour version in chalk pastel.
Partway through, I became captivated by the freshness and brightness of the work and felt that it would be worth pushing the colours just a little beyond what could be seen in the original image. The shimmering light that was emerging brought to mind the Biblical Garden of Eden in all its brilliance and freshness. I couldn’t help but think of how the Garden would appear as God Himself would walk through its beauty and how His radiant light would scatter across the landscape. This led to the title ‘Eden’s Light’.
This image will be printed on Hahnemühle German Etching paper to best suit the original medium.

Most of my original artworks are available in archival quality print form and are printed using the giclée process by ACME et al in Steels Creek, Victoria. Each stage of the printing process is carefully overseen by James, the printer (with nearly three decades of industry experience), to ensure the highest quality product. These prints are made to last for decades with minimal fading and are printed on high-end, sturdy papers.
Because the prints are made on demand and printed individually rather being mass-produced, please allow between two to three weeks for processing and delivery of your order (or a little longer for customers outside of Australia).
Please note that framing is not included with print purchases.
