ABOUT THE ARTWORK
(The Thousand Steps, Dandenong Ranges National Park, Upper Ferntree Gully)
2011
Pen and ink and watercolour
25 x 20cm
I grew up in Ferntree Gully - at the foothills of the Dandenong Ranges. It was such a blessing to be so close to the hills and take a ten-minute drive to become surrounded by fern trees, the towering mountain ash and the fragrant air filled with native bird-song. As a family, we had many barbecues over the years at the Dandenong Ranges National Park in Upper-Ferntree Gully. The park has now become very popular - not just with bush walkers and nature lovers - but with fitness enthusiasts. The 'Thousand Steps' walking track offers a great challenge for those wanting to stay fit but it is also stunningly beautiful as the steps are caressed by the graceful fronds of the fern trees. My pen and ink drawing 'Ferntree Gully Descent' is based on a photograph I took as I was descending back down the steps on one of my walks.
This image will be printed on Hahnemühle Photo Rag® paper (308 gsm) to best suit the original medium.

Most of my original artworks are available in archival quality print form and are printed using the giclée process by ACME et al in Steels Creek, Victoria. Each stage of the printing process is carefully overseen by James, the printer (with nearly three decades of industry experience), to ensure the highest quality product. These prints are made to last for decades with minimal fading and are printed on high-end, sturdy papers.
Because the prints are made on demand and printed individually rather being mass-produced, please allow between two to three weeks for processing and delivery of your order (or a little longer for customers outside of Australia).
Please note that framing is not included with print purchases.
