ABOUT THE ARTWORK
(The Alfred Nicholas Memorial Gardens, Sherbrooke)
2012
Pen and ink and watercolour
29 x 20cm
Among the many delights of the Dandenong Ranges on the outskirts of Melbourne, Australia are the ever-graceful fern trees. The arching fronds add delicate, light-filled canopies to the landscape and make one feel like they are back at the dawn of creation. The tree fern that features in this artwork was located alongside a walking path at the Alfred Nicholas Memorial Gardens in Sherbrooke (one of my most favourite spots on earth so far). The dappled light and glowing leaves of the nearby trees caught my eye. It felt at that moment as though Heaven itself was wooing me. I photographed the scene and soon after produced this watercolour painting based on the shot. To capture the feeling of that moment at the Gardens I named the work 'Forest Romance'.
This image will be printed on Hahnemühle Photo Rag® paper (308 gsm) to best suit the original medium.

Most of my original artworks are available in archival quality print form and are printed using the giclée process by ACME et al in Steels Creek, Victoria. Each stage of the printing process is carefully overseen by James, the printer (with nearly three decades of industry experience), to ensure the highest quality product. These prints are made to last for decades with minimal fading and are printed on high-end, sturdy papers.
Because the prints are made on demand and printed individually rather being mass-produced, please allow between two to three weeks for processing and delivery of your order (or a little longer for customers outside of Australia).
Please note that framing is not included with print purchases.
